Calling all baja girls…
Join me for an adventure on February 28th through March 4th…
We are flying round trip via Alaska Air
We are planning to stay at the Coco Cabanas (www.mexonline.com/cococabanas.htm)
I can’t wait to return. The long dirt driveway leads to a veritable paradise…except for the roosters next door!
This is the itinerary:
Thursday p.m. : Augie’s to say “Hi” to everyone
Panga excursion to the islands & fishing with Dolphin Dive on Friday morning.
Lunch at Giggling Dolphin – right next to Dolphin Dive because Ovaldo makes the best lunch in the world.
Friday evening: Tio Lupe’s
Saturday evening: La Palapa’s
Sunday evening: Mita Gourmet
Monday evening: ??? Suggestions
STEP ONE:
Getting There
Alaska Airlines – flies to and from Loreto on
Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays.
Departure from LAX is 11:10 a.m. – arrives at LTO 2:45 p.m.
Departure from LTO 2:50 p.m (more or less) – arrives at LAX 4:00 p.m.

As of 1/19/2008, a Saturday flight will be added – Cool!
Delta Airlines – flies to and from Loreto every Tuesday, Thursday & Sunday
Departs from LAX at 11:00 a.m. – arrives at 2:00 p.m.
Departs from LTO at 2:10 p.m. – arrives at 3:45 p.m.

Taxi vans await your arrival at the Loreto airport and will generally get you to your destination in town within 15 – 20 minutes. The cost is $20 or 200 pesos.
It is always a good idea to have the name and address of your hotel in hand…and remember, this is Mexico, so the van ride experience might be, shall we say, a bit of an adventure all by itself.
STEP TWO:
Staying There
Below is a list of hotels, bungalows, motels, and vacation rental websites. Comments and suggestions are added for your consideration and/or enjoyment. The places listed are places that I, myself, have stayed and would be willing to stay again, but I tend to recommend The Oasis because it is on the beach and in walking distance to the marina as well as all restaurants.

www.stayinloreto.com – Hammons Vacations
or try to find a private home at: www.vrbo.com
I stayed at Casa Doce – which has two large bedrooms, two baths, perfect for two couples, or two singles to share.
(Please Note: DO NOT stay at Loreto Bay or Loreto Bay Inn – it is VERY FAR from the real Loreto and is NOT the experience you are look for.)
Dolphin Dive Baja has a website (www.dolphindivebaja.com) and you are certainly welcome to buy one of their “package deals” – just know that the Desert Inn, formerly known as the La Pinta Hotel welcomes “dogs” – most of whom have not been blessed with Advantage or other flea-avoidance meds and some of which are not particularly well-behaved guests. I understand that www.bajabigfish.com also offers accommodations. I trust Pamela Bolles, to run a tight ship and find good accommodations.

Last year, my office closed and we all went down to Loreto to have fun together. Roseann, Meg and Nanci became certified divers while Bert, Ernesto, Linda and I participated in the “Fishin’ for the Mission” tournament. (Of course, I did some diving, too…how could I resist?)
I hope to see you there! Check back for more details!
